According to our Gemara we learn out that 'Ein Mearvin Simcha B'Simcha' from Shlomo Hamelech. But where did Shlomo Hamelech learn it out from?!

Dear Alex,
When the Gemara brings a source from Navi or Kesuvim it is only an Asmachta, not a real derivation, only our way of knowing that this Halacha exists. If this Halacha is Torah-based it must be Halacha l'Moshe miSinai. Tosfos also mentions a reason of not to combine two Simchas is similar to the reason that one should not combine two Mitzvos; so that he can fully give his heart to each Mitzva. Perhaps Shlomo haMelech perceived this with his wisdom.
All the best,

If the prohibition is only mid'Rabanan (see Teshuvos Chasam Sofer 4:125), we need look no further than Shlomo ha'Melech. After all, the Gemara states that Shlomo ha'Melech enacted other decrees as well (see Shabbos 14b). Even if he would not have done so, anytime we see that an important figure mentioned in Nevi'im or Kesuvim conducted himself in a certain manner where it was probably not just a matter of stringent conduct (see Teshuvos Chasam Sofer ibid.), we can assume that this was the accepted ruling by the Chachamim of the time, and should therefore be our ruling in the matter as well.
All the best,
Yaakov Montrose
