(a)Hotza'ah is the last of the thirty-nine Avos Melachos of Shabbos. It involves either 1. the sub-category of "Hotza'ah," or transferring objects from a Reshus ha'Yachid to a Reshus ha'Rabim, 2. Hachnasah, which refers to the opposite action, is part of the same category of Melachah, 3. Ma'avir Arba Amos b'Reshus ha'Rabim, or carrying an object from one place in Reshus ha'Rabim to another over a distance of at least four Amos, or 4. Moshit, which involves passing an object from one Reshus ha'Yachid to another through Reshus ha'Rabim above ten Tefachim (as described in the Mishnah on Daf 96a, see Background to Daf 4a). These are all biblical prohibitions.

(b)In order to transgress the biblical prohibition of Hotza'ah, certain conditions must be met. An Akirah (initiation of movement) and a Hanachah (putting the object to rest) must be performed on the object by the same person.

(c)One transgresses the biblical prohibition of Hotza'ah only if he picked up the object which he moved (Akirah) with the intention of placing it down again in another Reshus. If he decides to place it in another Reshus only after picking it up, he has not transgressed a biblical prohibition, and hence need not bring a Korban Chatas for atonement.

12)[line 39]תא שמע גמלTA SHEMA GAMAL- [This proof is addressing the first question of the Gemara, whether one may feed an animal which is not mostly inside the Pasim if he holds the animal as well as the bucket from which it is eating.]

13)[line 39]אובסין אותהOVSIN OSAH- lit. one may make a trough out of its stomach; i.e., one may stuff it with food

14)[line 44]מידי גבי הדדי תניא?MIDI GABEI HADADI TANYA?- Were they taught together (in the same Beraisa)?
