SUMMARY
1. There are five days on which Megilas Esther may possibly be read.
2. Under certain circumstances, the villages that supply food for the big cities may read on three of these five days.
3. The villages sometimes read the Megilah on the same day as everyone else.
4. There is a dispute about how long a city must be walled in order to be entitled to read the Megilah on the fifteenth.
5. A city that is very close to a walled city, or from which one can see a walled city, is considered like a walled city.

A BIT MORE
1. While the two primary days for reading the Megilah are the fifteenth (for cities walled from the time of Yehoshua bin Nun) and the fourteenth (for most other cities) of Adar, the Mishnah later explains how certain villages may read it either on the thirteenth, twelfth, or eleventh of Adar, depending on when Purim falls that year (see below).
2. The Mishnah explains that there was a designated day every year when the villages would read, depending on when Purim (the fourteenth) fell. For example, if Purim (the fourteenth) fell on a Tuesday, the villagers would read on Monday, since on Mondays they usually came into the cities.
3. If Purim fell on a Monday or Thursday, a market day on which the villagers would come into the big cities anyway, they would read the Megilah at the same time as everyone else.
4. While our Mishnah says that the city must be walled from the time of Yehoshua bin Nun, Rebbi Yehoshua ben Korchah says that it must be walled only from the time of Achashverosh.
5. The Gemara says that "close" in this context means one Mil (about a kilometer) away.
