A BIT MORE
1. This was actually the practice in the area where Rebbi Yosi ha'Glili was the leading authority. However, we do not rule according to his opinion. (Even in his time, his lenient ruling was not followed anywhere else.)
2. Rebbi Eliezer ruled that one may do anything necessary to perform a Bris Milah on Shabbos, including cutting wood in order to make coals to fuel the fire that would help form metal into a knife. This was the practice in his area, but nowhere else.
3. This is why Levi did not protest when he went to Yosef Rishba's house, where he was served fowl with milk. While he did not eat it, he did not protest because he thought Rebbi Yehudah ben Beseirah (who was the authority of that area) may have held like Rebbi Yosi ha'Glili.
4. We do not suspect that the hens are Neveilos or Tereifos, which would make their eggs forbidden.
5. If so, it would be forbidden to benefit from all parts of an animal that he slaughters.
