SUMMARY

1. The Gemara discusses whether preparations for the Mitzvah of Shtei ha'Lechem override Shabbos.

2. Even Rebbi Eliezer agrees that one may not tie Tzitzis to clothing or fix a Mezuzah onto a doorway on Shabbos.

3. The Gemara discusses whether preparations for the Mitzvah of Lulav override Shabbos.

4. The Gemara discusses whether preparations for the Mitzvos of Sukah and Matzah override Shabbos.

5. The Gemara discusses whether preparations for the Mitzvah of Shofar override Shabbos.

A BIT MORE

1. Rebbi Eliezer derives from a Gezeirah Shavah that they do. However, even Rebbi Eliezer agrees that not all preparations for all Mitzvos override Shabbos (see below).

2. This is because he theoretically could declare his clothing or house ownerless, thereby becoming exempt from the obligation of Tzitzis or Mezuzah.

3. Rebbi Eliezer derives from the verse, "ba'Yom," that these preparations override even the "Yom" ("day") of Shabbos. The Rabanan argue that this verse teaches merely that the Mitzvah may be fulfilled only on the day of Sukos, not at night.

4. Rebbi Eliezer derives Sukah from Lulav, and Matzah through a Gezeirah Shavah from Sukah. The Rabanan argue with regard to Lulav as well (see #3 above).

5. Rebbi Eliezer derives from the verse, "Yom Teru'ah Yiheyeh Lachem," that the preparations override even the "Yom" ("day") of Shabbos. The Rabanan argue that "Yom" merely teaches that the Mitzvah is to be performed only on the day of Rosh Hashanah, not at night.
