(Mishnah - R. Yehudah): Even if there is only a pit or cave inside, one may carry inside;

R. Akiva says, even if none of these is inside one may carry inside, as long as it is [no more than] 70 Amos and a fraction on each side.

(Gemara) Question: R. Yehudah contradicts himself! There, a Mishnah says "what is a Karfef? It is anything close to the city. R. Yehudah says so. And here, he says so (it depends only on whether or not there is a pit or cave inside)!

Answer (R. Mana): R. Yehudah considers [a pit or cave] like a residence. (All agree that one may carry when it has a residence. There, when there is no residence, he requires that it is close to the city.)
