If one acquired Shevisah and Nochrim came and surrounded it with a Mechitzah, R. Chunah says, the Mechitzah does not help him at all. Rather, he may walk 2000 [Amos in every direction] and move [things] in four [Amos];

(Chiyah bar Rav): He may walk and move in 2000.

(R. Yakov bar Acha citing R. Avuna citing Chiyah bar Rav): He may walk 2000 [Amos in every direction] and move in 4000 Amos through throwing.

Assumption: They argue according to R. Yehoshua and R. Akiva [who say that if they brought him to another city and put him in a Dir or Sahar, he has only four Amos]. However, according to R. Gamliel and R. Elazar ben Azaryah [who say that he may traverse all of it], they do not argue.

Retraction: They argue even according to R. Gamliel and R. Elazar ben Azaryah. We are more lenient for one who did not acquire Shevisah [where he is now] than for one who acquired Shevisah. (We explained this like GILYON EFRAYIM, SHA'AREI TORAS ERETZ YISRAEL.)

If Nochrim [took someone from his Techum and] put him at the opening of a Dir - according to R. Yehoshua and R. Akiva, we give to him two Amos inside and two Amos outside;

According to R. Gamliel and R. Elazar ben Azaryah, we do not give to him two Amos inside and two Amos outside. If you will say that we give to him two Amos inside and two Amos outside, he will carry in the entire Dir.

If they put him in the middle of a Dir, half inside the Techum and half outside the Techum - R. Acha said from what he received, and R. Yehudah said on his own reasoning, that this depends on the argument of R. Chunah and Chiyah brei d'Rav. (R. Chunah says that since he was not Shoves within the Mechitzos, he may carry only in four Amos. Chiyah brei d'Rav permits carrying within the Mechitzos. Above, there were two versions about whether or not Chiyah brei d'Rav allows moving through throwing outside his Techum. We explained this partially based on TOLDOS YITZCHAK.)

Inference (R. Ze'ira citing Rav Huna citing Rav): Since [our Mishnah says that] R. Yehoshua and R. Akiva wanted to be stringent on themselves, this shows that [according to letter of the law, they were permitted, i.e.] the Halachah follows R. Gamliel and R. Elazar ben Azaryah regarding a boat.

(R. Ba citing R. Chiya bar Ashi): Even regarding a Dir or Sahar, the Halachah follows R. Gamliel and R. Elazar ben Azaryah.
