What is the meaning of "Ye'amen Devarcha Im David Avi"?
'Rashi': You will make true (fulfill) Your word to David.
Malbim (7): If You do not give to me a wise heart, You will not fulfill Your word and promise to David that his son will be king in place of him, for the purpose of kingship is to do justice and guide the nation with Chachmah!
Why did he say "Ki Atah Himlachtani?"?
'Rashi': Since You made me king over a big nation, I need Chachmah and strength 1 to go in front of them to fight their wars, like it says "u'Shfatanu Malkenu v'Yatza Lefanecha v'Nilcham Es Milchamosenu" (Shmuel I, 8:20). Since I should request what is in my heart, I will request what I need ? Chachmah!
If so, why did Shlomo request only Chachmah, and not also strength? (PF)
