1)

What is "Korban Reishis" referring to?

1.

Rashi and Rashbam: It refers to the Sh'tei ha'Lechem 1 on Shavu'os, which are baked Chametz, and Bikurim, 2 which come in the form of fruit. 3

1

Which the Pasuk, in Pinchas, 28:26 calls "Minchah Chadashah (Menachos, 58a).

2

Which the Pasuk in Mishpatim, Sh'mos, 23:19 calls "Reishis" (Menachos, 58a).

3

Neither of which is brought on the Mizbe'ach (Rashbam).

2)

Seeing as the Sheyarei Minchah may be eaten with D'vash, what is the Chidush by Bikurim?

1.

Oznayim la'Torah: Because, since they are brought to the Beis-Hamikdash and require Tenufah, Shir and Linah - like a regular Korban, we would have thought that Bikurim have the Din of a Korban and that D'vash may not be brought.

3)

What are the implications of the word "Takrivu osam"?

1.

Rashbam: It implies that one should bring them to the Azarah for the Tenufah.

2.

Sifra: "Takrivu" implies that the Kohanim are obligated to bring the Bikurim and the Sh'tei ha'Lechem - even if another Korban was brought before them.

4)

What are the implications of "ve'El ha'Mizbe'ach Lo Ya'alu ... "?

1.

Menachos, 58a: It implies that bringing a Korban Nedavah of Se'or or D'vash is prohibited in the same way as one brings the Korban Chovah.

2.

Menachos, 57b: It teaches us that, in other regards - except for the current one (Refer to 2:12:1.4:1) the Kevesh is not included in the Isur of the Mizbe'ach. 1

3.

Zevachim, 77a: It teaches us that in other regards - except for the current one (Refer to 2:12:1.1:1) the Heter of bringing on the Mizbe'ach as firewood 2 does not apply. 3

See Torah Temimah, note 64.

2

Refer to 2:12:1.5:1.

3

See Torah Temimah, note 65.

5)

Why does the Torah write "ve'el ha'Mizbe'ach" and not "ve'al ha'Mizbe'ach"?

1.

Menachos, 57b: To include bringing them to the Kevesh in the prohibition?

6)

Why does the Torah add the (otherwise superfluos) words words "le'Re'ach Nicho'ach"?

1.

Zevachim, 77a: To extrapolate that one may bring them on the Mizbe'ach as firewood.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

7)

Rashi writes that the only Heter is for the Sh'tei ha'Lechem and Bikurim. But Chametz is also brought with the Todah, even though it is not called "Reishis"?

1.

Moshav Zekenim #1: The Torah discusses only obligations that come from Se'or and honey, and the Todah is not an obligatory offering.

2.

Moshav Zekenim #2 (7:12, citing the Ramban): Lachmei Todah do not go on the Mizbe'ach for a Re'ach Nicho'ach 1 . They are merely waved.

3.

Moshav Zekenim #3 (7:12, citing the Ramban): The Torah explicitly commands Chametz in Lachmei Todah. The Pasuk needs to teach only honey, for it is not explicit which Bikurim to bring; it taught Se'or along with honey.

4.

Oznayim la'Torah: Because, unlike the Sh'tei ha'Lechem, the Lachmei Todah, wich are eaten by Zarim, are not called 'Minchah', and the one that is given to the Kohen the Torah calls "Terumah".

1

Moshav Zekenim: This is difficult, since also the Sh'tei ha'Lechem do not go on the Mizbe'ach, yet they are considered a Re'ach Nicho'ach due to the lambs that accompany them, in which case also Lachmei Todah should be a Re'ach Nicho'ach due to the animal that accompanies them?
