What do we learn from "Garesh Letz v'Yetzei Madon"?

1.

Yevamos 63b: It is a Mitzvah to divorce an evil wife.

2.

Rashi: Expel the Letz, i.e. the Yetzer ha'Ra.

3.

R. Yonah: Expel a Letz from your company. Ish Madon, a quarrelsome person, should leave.

4.

Malbim: Madon is a claim due to which one goes for judgment with his colleague. Several reasons can arouse Madon, e.g. hatred ("Sin'ah Te'orer Medanim" - 10:12) and anger ("Ish Chemah Yegareh Madon" - 15:18). It says here that also a Letz can arouse Madon, for he scoffs at everything. This arouses quarrels. The Sefer counsels everyone to expel a Letz from his house and not join with him. Madon will depart with him. He will not need to go to Din, and the disgrace of Beis Din 1 .

1

What is the disgrace of Beis Din? Perhaps a litigant is prone to say everything negative about his opponent that he can, to try to discredit him in the eyes of the judges. (PF)

2)

Why does it say "v'Yishbos Din v'Kalon"?

1.

R. Yonah: When you expel them, will depart from you great damages that distract man in the world - Din (quarrels) and disgrace. An Ish Madon arouses complaints against anyone that he deals with, and constantly forces him to come to Beis Din, or he does not want to pay what he is obligated, if not in Beis Din. The Letz constantly causes disgrace to his friend.

2.

Malbim: Refer to 22:10:1:4.
