What is the meaning of "Choze ha'Melech b'Divrei ha'Elokim Leharim Keren Yisrael"?
'Rashi': He raises the horn of Nevu'ah - he prophesizes for the king. This is like "v'Yarem Keren Mwshicho."
Malbim: He had a Chazon (vision) for the king, that Hashem will raise his horn and he will succeed. This was in one of David's wars, that Hashem raised his horn.
Why does it say "va'Yiten Elokim l'Heiman?"?
'Rashi': Had Hashem not given to him children, he could not have 14 sons and three daughters, all proper to be Roshei Mishmaros 1 . Similarly, "va'Yiten Hashem Lah Herayon" - if not for this gift from Hashem, Bo'az, who was old, could not father. "Va'Yar'ehu Hashem Es Kol ha'Aretz" - had this vision 2 not been from Hashem, it would be impossible to see so far.
Radak #1: It is because Asaf and Yedusun did not have so many sons.
Radak #2: Initially he was sterile. He beseeched Hashem; Hashem heard his prayer, and gave to him 14 sons and three daughters.
It says 14, but 15 are listed!
'Rashi' (4) Romamti Ezer is one name, even though they are two words. Malbim (4) - verse 31 proves so. Radak (1) - there are many such names.
