What is the meaning of "mi'Bechi Neharos Chibesh"?
Rashi #1: I heard, at creation, when the lower water was closed in 1 , He tied it. Chibesh is like "va'Yachavosh Es Chamoro."
Rashi #2: Due to Yisrael's crying "Mah Nishteh", He fixed for them rivers of water from the rock. The Targum of "va'Yachavosh Lahem" (Vayikra 8:13) is v'Asken.
Ibn Ezra: He stops the quick flow of rivers. Bechi is like "Nivchei Yam"; Chibesh is like "Lo Chubashu", "Lo Ehyeh Chovesh."
Malbim: This is another way that Hashem reveals metals. Rivers that flow without a fixed course, Hashem fixes a course for them. Refer to 28:11:2:3.
Rashi: Bechi is like "Nivchei Yam" (38:16).
What hidden matter gives out light?
Rashi: There is a window in the Raki'a called Ta'alumah, from which comes the sun's trajectory (Pirkei d'R. Eliezer 6). I.e. everything has a source and end.
Ibn Ezra: What was hidden in rivers will be seen when the water dries. We find that Hashem does something and reverses it. He gives good to a Rasha, and also pays evil to him. Even places in the land change. Some lands grow vegetation; in some, no herbage grows. Man cannot know why things are so.
Malbim: When a river has a fixed course between mountains, it rinses the land there, and reveals matters hidden there.
