For which sin does the goat of the Chatas come to atone?
Rashi (citing Shevu'os 9a): All the Chata'os of the Musafim come to atone for Tum'as Mikdash ve'Kodashav - if someone ate Kodshim or entered the Mishkan or the Beis ha'Mikdash be'Tum'ah..
Why does the Torah insert the (Otherwise superfluous) word "u'Se'ir Izi Echad le'Chatas"?
Bechoros, 17a): To pisqualify a Nidmeh (the child of a lamb that resembles a goat or vice-versa) from being brought as a Musaf-offering. 1
See Torah Temimah, note 44.
Why does the Torah add the word "la'Hashem"?
Rashi #1 and R. Bachye #1 (citing Shevu?os 14a): Because the Chatas of Rosh Chodesh 1 atones for sins of Tum'ah in which he was not aware of the Tum'ah, neither at the beginning nor at the end, and only Hashem was aware of it. 2
Rashi #2, R. Bachye #2 (citing Shevu?os 14a) and Targum Yonasan: Hakadosh-Baruch-Hu said 'Bring a Kaparah on My behalf (?Alai?) 3 because I reduced the size of the moon!' 4 5
R. Bachye #4: It means ?to atone for the sins performed aganst Hashem?. 8
R Bachye #5 (citing the Rambam): ?le?Chatas la?Hashem?, ?ve?Lo la?Levanah? - to counter those who worship the moon, as was common among the nations in former times. And the Torah therefore writes ?la?Hashem?, to emphasize that we are bringing the Korban to Hashem and not to the moon. 9
Rashi: And we learn other Chata'os of Musafim from the Musaf of Rosh Chodesh. See Sifsei Chachamim. See Torah Temmah, note 47, who elaborates.
See Torah Temimah, note 45.
R. Bachye (citing the Rif interprets ?Alai? as ?Elai ?- ?to Me?.
See R. Bachye citing Chulin 60b.
See Torah Temimah, note 48, who elaborates.
R. Bachye: As in Vayikra 16:9 ?asher alav ha?Goral la?Hashem Ve?asahu Chatas?.
Hadar Zekenim: Because it is the first Chatas [taught in Musafim] - and this extends to all the other Musasim.
R. Bachye: Like find in Bereishis 39:9 ?Vechatasi l?Elokim? and in Bereishis 42:2 ?Vechatasi le?Avi Kol ha?Yamim?.
Which explains why the Torah only writes ?la?Hashem? by the Musaf of Rosh Chodesh and not by any of the other Musafim. See R. Bachye.
What are the implications of "al Olas ha'Tamid" - written in connection wih the Sa'ir le'Chatas?
Sifri: Refer to 28:10:3:1**..
Yerushalmi Horayos, 3:4: The juxtaposition to the OLas Tamid teaches us that the Sa'ir is brought immediately after the Korban Tamid - before the Par of the Musaf. 1
See Torah Temimah, note 49.
"al Olas ha'Tamid ve'Nisko". Since when does one bring Nesachim together with a Chatas?
Rashi: "ve''Nisko" refers exclusively, to the Olas ha'Tamid and not to the Se'ir Izim Echad le'Chatas.
QUESTIONS ON RASHI
Rashi writes that Hashem said 'Bring a Kaparah for Me for diminishing the moon!' What are the ramifications of this statement?
Da'as Zekenim (on Pasuk 9): a. It is a consolation for the moon for having been diminished, and b. It prevents children from bring stricken with croup - which is prone to occur on Wednesday, the day of the [new] moon when the luminaries were first put in place. 1
Refer to Bereishis 1:14:151:1.
