Why would he not look at Yehoram, if not for Yehoshafat?

1.

Megilah 28a: It is forbidden 1 to look at the face of a Rasha. Yitzchak went blind because he looked at Esav's face!

2.

Malbim: A condition for an influence of Nevu'ah on a Navi is that he be among Tzadikim and people of Ru'ach - "v'Hisnavisa Imahem" (Shmuel I, 10:6). Being amidst Resha'im blocks Nevu'ah. You (Yehoram) are a reason that I not get Nevu'ah. Only Yehoshafat and his virtue will help that Nevu'ah come upon me.

Lev Eliyahu (Bereishis p. 36): This is not mere Midas Chasidus. It is a real Isur! The eyes are like windows; Ru'ach ha'Tum'ah comes to the brain [of one who looks at him], and arouses evil thoughts that he received from his lust or pride! (Would Elisha do an Isur because Yehoshafat was there, for his honor?! Magen Avraham (225:20) forbids only gazing, but not seeing briefly. Perhaps Elisha would be stringent and not even glance at Yehoram, lest he come to gaze, if not for Yehoshafat. (PF)
