What are "Sharsheros"?
'Rashi': They were chains at the end of the Tzefess, under it. The forms of pomegranates were stuck in them, to cover the interior of the Tzefes, like it says "Lechasos Es Shtei Gulos ha'Kosaros" (Melachim I, 7:41). There it says "Sevachos". These are the chains. "V'Al Sevachah Yis'halech" (Iyov 18:8) refers to branches, like "ba'Svach b'Karnav" (Bereishis 22:13). Some say that [Sevachah] is a hairnet; R. Elazar said that it is branches.
What did he put on the tops of the pillars?
Radak: He did not put the chains of the Devir on the pillars, for the pillars were in the Ulam, in front of the Heichal! Rather, he made chains in the Devir ? "va'Y'aber b'Ratakos Zahav Lifnei ha'Devir" (Melachim I, 6:21), and afterwards put other chains on the tops of the pillars. Since it already mentioned chains, it omitted it afterwards, and relied on the reader to understand. Verses often do so!
Malbim: He put the chains that were made "ba'Devir", i.e. in an inner, covered place. I.e. the tops of the chains were covered with the Sevachah mentioned below (4:12), and the pomegranates hung from their bottom.
Here it says that there were 100 pomegranates. Below (4:13) it says 400. In Melachim I, 7:20 it says 200, and Yirmeyah 52:23 says that there were 96 Ruchah, and in all, 100 on the Sevachah!
Refer to Melachim I, 7:20:4:1-3 and the note there.
