Why did he say "ba'Shem Tis'halel Nafshi"?

1.

Rashi: I boast that I have a patron like this, to save and guard.

2.

Radak: I boast only in Hashem, and not in another savior, for I have no other savior. He put in Avimelech's heart to expel me, and he did not investigate me!'

3.

Malbim: I boast that I have a Father in Shamayim who loves me and supervises over me, and my Nefesh is a part of Him and is 'copied' from Him.

What will the humble hear?

1.

Rashi: Wonders that He did for me. They will understand them amidst my praise, and rejoice. Radak - the haughty will not rejoice. They hated David!

2.

Malbim: This praise should not be considered haughtiness. Just the contrary, the humble will hear and rejoice! Even though humility hates all boasting, humility agrees to boasting in Hashem - "va'Yigbah Libo b'Darchei Hashem" (Divrei ha'Yamim II, 17:6). It is the unity of humility and pride in the Nefesh. Pride that Hashem is his stronghold and always supervises over him, this is humility. Via this he strips his physical garments, and the Nefesh rises to Elokim until it is Batel, and like nothing in its eyes. The flesh and its powers are like earth and ashes, like Avraham said about himself (Bereishis 18:27). This humility comes from the Nefesh clinging to its Source, and its Bitul to its supreme Source.
