Here it says from the ground until [and] above the opening. Verse 17 said [only] above the opening!

1.

Radak 1 : Verse 17 discusses the eastern wall, in which was the opening. It did not have pictures on the Mezuzos and lintel, only above the opening.

2.

Malbim: The Keruvim and date trees from the ground until the opening were "Asuyim" - already finished. Above (17) he saw Midos ? other forms that will be engraved above the opening.

I fixed the text of Radak to say 'she'Amar me'Al?' (PF)

2)

What does the verse teach about "Kir ha'Heichal"?

1.

Rashi: Also it had pictures.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

3)

Rashi writes that the verse teaches that also Kir ha'Heichal had pictures. Why was this needed? It already taught "Kol ha'Bayis Saviv" (19)!

1.

Radak #1: "Bayis" is Kodesh ha'Kodoshim. Here it details the wall of the Heichal 1 .

2.

Radak #2: Perhaps this is why there are dots on "ha'Heichal" (it was not needed). There are 15 such words in Tanach.

3.

Malbim: Elsewhere, there were Midos of forms that will be engraved above the opening. In the Heichal, the Keruvim were finished on the entire wall.

1

Radak: However, this is difficult. It is included in Kol ha'Bayis ? there was no need to teach it by itself!
