Rashi: It is the place of the chambers by the 20 Amos of space in Chatzer ha'Penimi around the Bayis, like it says above "u'Vein ha'Leshachos Rochav Esrim Amah" (41:10).

Malbim: From Lishkos ha'Me'ah to Lishkos ha'Esrim, which were open to Chatzer ha'Penimi and had Kedushas Chatzer ha'Penimi.

Rashi: This is the Ritzpah of (a balcony around) Chatzer ha'Chitzonah (Ezras Nashim) ? "va'Yvi'eni El he'Chatzer ha'Chitzonah v'Hinei Leshachos v'Ritzpah Asuy le'Chatzer" (40:17). Vilna Gaon ? the south side of this chamber faced the gap of 20, and the north side faced the Ritzpah.

Rashi: I do not know what this is.

Hagahah in Rashi: Atik is a pillar, like Rashi explained above (41:16). The chambers discussed here were built on these pillars. They are called Elyonim, for they are on the height of the mountain, like Rashi explained "umi'Tachas ha'Leshachos ha'Eleh" (9).

Vilna Gaon: Atik is a wall that supports other buildings. Here it was in the west, from the Lishkah to the Ritzpah. There was also an Atik on the other side.

Malbim: Now he found that there are four Atikim ? one opposite another, in two places. I explained (1) that Atikim are tall buildings normally built between two opposite buildings; they stretch planks from one to another and built on top of them ¹ . It has windows all around; one who ascends there can see far all around. It joins the two buildings [on which it is built]. Yechezkel saw two Atikim opposite the gates of Chatzer ha'Penimi; they laid beams from the roof of Lishkos ha'Me'ah to the roof of Lishkos ha'Esrim, which were 10 Amos away, south of Lishkos ha'Me'ah and opposite them. One Atik was in the east corner and one was in the west corner. Likewise there were two Atikim opposite the Ritzpah. They laid beams from the roof of Lishkos ha'Me'ah to the roof of Lishkos ha'Ritzpah ² on the side of Kir Chatzer ha'Chitzonah. On the two sides where the chambers began they built one Atik in the east and one in the west.

Targum Yonasan: Mesalsin. Rashi ? this implies that that the chambers were three levels, one on top of each other. The verses support this. It says that the upper ones were narrower than the lower ones and the middle ones (5).
