Here lists Kohanim Gedolim until Yehotzadak, who served at the time of the Churban. Are these all of them?
Riva (in Tosfos Yuma 9a): Yes. Yuma 9a says that there were eight 1 Kohanim Gedolim in Bayis Rishon 2 .
Tosfos ha'Rosh (Yuma 9a): It lists a Kohen Gadol only if his son became Kohen Gadol once he died.
Malbim: Meforshim said so, and had great difficulties. Really, there were others 3 . Seder Olam Zuta and Yosifun list 18 Kohanim Gedolim from Achima'atz, and here many of them are omitted here! Rather, here lists only the order of lineage.
Tosfos (9a): The text in all Gemaros, Sifri and the Yerushalmi says 18! Really, there were nine, and also nine Seganim. We find (Melachim II, 25:18) "va'Yikach Rav Tabachim Es Serayah Kohen ha'Rosh v'Es Tzefanyah Kohen Mishneh." The Gemara teaches that even if you will say that every Kohen Gadol was unable to serve one year, and the Segan served in place of him, there were at most 18. Alternatively, there were 18 from Pinchas until Churban Rishon (including over 400 years of the Mishkan, before Bayis Rishon - PF).
Nine are listed here! Yehotzadak is not counted, for he was never Kohen Gadol ('Rashi' 41).
Malbim asks if all of these were Kohanim Gedolim; we corrected a printing mistake in his words, for he proves that there were other Kohanim Gedolim. (PF)
