Why did he say "Im Ko'ach Avanim Kochi"?

1.

Devar Eliyahu: Do I have the strength of rocks, to bear afflictions?

2)

Why did he add "Im Besari Nachush"?

1.

Devar Eliyahu: There are two questions in astonishment. (a) The afflictions are so severe that one cannot bear them, even if they would be limited to a short time. (b) Man's days are few; death is prone to occur before getting the anticipated good. Therefore, there are two comparisons. A rock is far from loss, even if many things happen to it. Copper endures a long time. Even if I had both attributes, I could endure.

2.

Malbim: Is my flesh copper, that it will not rot via the boils that consume it?
