What is the meaning of "Yashuvu Lo Al"?

1.

Rashi: They returned to Egypt, and it did not help them. Therefore, Al has a Kamatz, like "Ne'um ha'Gever Hukam Al" (Shmuel II, 23:1) ? an expression of elevation. It is not Samuch to the following word. Radak ? it is an adjective, like Elyon.

2.

Radak: When the affliction will come, they will scream to idolatry and not to Me ? I am above everything!

3.

Malbim: They will return from the net ("Efros Aleihem Rishti k'Of ha'Shamayim Oridem" ? 12). However, this bird will not fly above. Rather, it will go from this net to another net. They fled from Egypt's net to Ashur's net.

What is "Keshes Remiyah"?

1.

Rashi: When they want to shoot an arrow to the north, the bow shoots it to the south. Radak ? Remiyah is an adjective, or a noun, like Mirmah. The archer draws the arrow to shoot in one direction, and in a moment reverses to the opposite direction. The deception is attributed to the bow, even though the archer does it. So Yisrael sometimes they returned to the good path, and in a moment revert to the bad path. They are compared to a bow. The false Nevi'im are the archer ? via them, Yisrael revert to the bad path. We find that after Eliyahu's great test, the entire nation said "Hashem Hu ha'Elokim Hashem Hu ha'Elokim" (Melachim I, 18:39), and soon they reverted to serve Ba'alim and the calves.

2.

Malbim: The officers who told Melech Ashur that Hoshe'a ben Elah rebelled against him and sent a gift to Soa Melech Mitzrayim. They intended to shoot arrows at Hoshe'a. Afterwards, Melech Ashur besieged Shomron and killed them. This is like Keshes Remiyah ? one who shoots an arrow with it, the arrow returns to his heart. The officers' arrows of Leshon ha'Ra returned to kill them!

Which officers will fall to the sword?

1.

Rashi: Yochanan ben Kare'ach and all the soldiers who returned to Egypt.

2.

Radak: They are the officers who lead them in a bad path. They say, when the enemy comes, we will go to Egypt and request help from them. They will fall to the sword on the way [to Egypt]. So it says in Yeshayah "Masa Bahamos Negev b'Eretz Tzarah v'Tzukah Lavi va'Layish Mehem" (30:6). Vicious beasts ate some of them, and some fell to the enemy's sword.

3.

Malbim: These are the officers who went to Melech Ashur and informed on Hoshe'a ben Elah (refer to 7:16:2:2).

4)

What is "mi'Za'am Leshonam"?

1.

Rashi: Harsh language that they answered Yirmeyah.

2.

Radak: They anger Hashem with their words (refer to 7:16:3:2).

5)

Why does it say "Zo Lagam"?

1.

Rashi: They mock them in Egypt 'why did you return to us - in bring punishments on us? It is written for you "Lo Sosifu Lir'osam Od" (Shemos 14:13)!

2.

Radak: Egypt will mock them for coming to request help from them. "Zo" has a Cholem, like "v'Edosi Zo Alamedem" (Tehilim 132:12). It is like Zos.

3.

Malbim: Egypt mocked the officers who informed on Hoshe'a ben Elah, for this was Keshes Remiyah (refer to 7:16:2:2).
