How is Efrayim like a bird?

1.

Rashi: If only they would be like a bird, which wanders from its nest and ceases to reproduce! Refer to 9:11:3:1.

2.

Rashi (12): Like a bird that flies, and it is not [here]. So all their honor will fly and flee.

3.

Malbim: Efrayim had no honor at their birth. Also while in the womb, and even at the time of conception they had no honor at all, for most of them were Mamzerim and born via Zenus. All the more so they are Shikutzim in My eyes via their Zenus!

What is "Kevodam"?

1.

Radak: The children are called Kavod, for they are the honor of the fathers - Ateres Zekenim Bnei Vanim" (Mishlei 17:6). Also, children honor their fathers.

3)

Why does it mention "mi'Ledah umi'Beten ume'Herayon"?

1.

Rashi: So they should be bereft of their seed - [their children should die] at birth, or be dissolved in the womb and miscarried, or at the time of conception, there should be no conception!

2.

Rashi (12): All their pain from their children, in birth, pregnancy and at the time of conception 1 , all their toil will be wiped out; when they raise their children, "v'Shikaltim" (12; I will bereave them of them).

3.

Radak: Some should die at birth, some in the womb, before the days of pregnancy finish, and some [women] should be sterile, and not become pregnant.

Sotah 12a assume that there is no pain at the time of conception. There can be pain in Bi'as Besulah and Bi'ah Lo k'Darkah, but a woman does not conceive from them! (PF)
