Why was a Kinyan needed?

1.

Malbim: The Rashba (Kidushin 21a) explains that the order of Ge'ulah is Me'akev. If the cousin can redeem, but the uncle cannot, the cousin cannot redeem. How was Bo'az able to redeem? He needed to acquire from the Go'el, in order that Bo'az would stand in place of him 1 .

Above, Malbim proved that she had not yet sold the field (refer to 4:3:2:1). If so, surely anyone may 'redeem' (i.e. buy) it! The Rashba teaches that if a field was sold, only the closest relative has the right to redeem it Bal Korcho (against the will) of the buyer! Malbim's words require investigation. (PF)
