Why does the Torah insert the (otherwise superfluous) word "ve'Kesef ve'Zahav Yirbeh lach"?

Oznayim la'Torah: Because the problem lies in the fact that the people amass more money than they need to live and keep it for themselves, instead of using the extra money to assist the poor.
