1)

Whom does this address?

1.

Rashi: It addresses Melech Ashur.

2.

Malbim: It addresses Sardanafal.

2)

What is the meaning of "Lo Yizara mi'Shimcha Od"?

1.

Rashi: A king will not come from you. Radak ? his sons killed him, and fled to Eretz Ararat.

2.

Malbim: Hashem decreed that no king will come from your sons called on your name. He and his sons were wiped out, and his name was no longer mentioned.

3)

Why does it say "mi'Beis Elohecha Achris Pesel u'Masechah [Asim Kivrecha]"?

1.

Rashi: The house of your god, I will make it your grave. You will flee to there to be saved, and there you will be killed, like your father was killed "Beis Nisroch Elohav" (Melachim II, 19:37).

2.

Radak: Since he was killed there, the house ceased to have idols. Since Hashem aroused his sons to kill him, it is as if Hashem cut off the idols.

3.

Malbim: The kings used to erect images of themselves in the house of their gods. People honored his image, and attributed divinity to it. [The rebels] removed every image that was for his honor ? just the contrary, they erected on his grave an image of disgrace to show his lowliness, like it says in chronicles.

4)

What is "[Asim Kivrecha] Ki Kalosa"?

1.

Rashi: You were light in My eyes.

2.

Radak: You were disgraced ? your sins killed you. It was a greater disgrace to be killed in the house of your god. This is a punishment for disgracing Me with your words, saying that I cannot save Yerushalayim from your hand. You 'made' Me like gods of the nations!

3.

Malbim: I will [cause people to] put on your grave an image to show that you were very disgraced.
