Oznayim la'Torah: To teach us us that, unlike the fish, which sometimes grow fins and scales at a later stage or whose fins and scales sometimes fall off, in the realm of animals, there is no such thing as hoofs becoming split later or joining together ? If it has fins and scales now, then it will have them later, and it had them when it was born. 1
