What did Hashem mean when He said "Im Atem Tavo'u el ha'Aretz ... "
R. Bachye: Seeing as Hashem was spesking to Moshe and Aharon it implies that they too were included and that they too, would not enter Eretz Cana?an. 1 2
Targum Yonasan: It implies that, due to the Shevu'ah, 3 the people would not enter Eretz Yisrael. 4
R. Bachye: Even though theynhad not yet sinned, they did not want to enter the land without B?nei Yisrael. See R. Chavel?s footnotes.
See R. Bachye, who elaborates and who points out that, just as Moshe and Aharon would die in the desert with Yisrael, so too, are they destined to arise together with them at Techi?as ha?Meisim and lead them into the land. See R. Bachye.
In Pasuk 28.
Seeing as following a positive Shevu'ah, the Torah uses the negative form, and vice-versa.
Why does the Torah here place Calev before Yehoshua, whereas later, in Pasuk 38, it gives precedence to Yehoshua?
Ramban (in Pasuk 24): Hashem places Calev before Yehoshua here, because he was the first to take on the spies, 1 whereas in Pasuk 38, Moshe gives Yehoshua precedence on account of his superior wisdom.
Oznayim la'Torah: Refer to 14:24:5:4.
Ramban: As the Torah wrote earlier in 13:30 "va'Yahas Calev ...".
