Why did he say "Lamah Setze'u"?

Why did he say "you are slaves of Sha'ul"?
Malbim: This was Pelishtim's claim against Yisrael. You were serving us, and appointed your own king, so you will be his slaves!
Malbim (9): We stand to lose more than you do. Now, we are free - if you defeat me, we are your slaves. You are slaves in any case - if I win, you will be our slaves, and not Sha'ul's slaves!
