QUESTIONS ON RASHI
Rashi writes: "'Father-in-law of Moshe' - As an honorific, the verse refers to him as 'father-in-law of the king'!" What is the derivation?
Mizrachi: In Moshe's previous response to Yisro (18:15), Moshe addressed "Choseno" - such that we would expect our verse to suffice with this term as well (i.e., 'va'Yomer Choseno.') By specifying "Chosein Moshe," it adds honor for Yisro.
Rashi writes: "'Father-in-law of Moshe' - As an honorific, the verse refers to him as 'father-in-law of the king'!" What does this add to Rashi's similar comment on Pasuk 18:1, above?
Gur Aryeh: In Pasuk 1, Rashi writes that Yisro himself would take honor from being Moshe's father-in-law. Now, the narrative writes this objectively as well.
