Who are "Avoseichem"?
Radak: The first generations, from when they entered the land; they served idolatry.
Malbim: Already in the Midbar they distanced from Hashem and served idolatry.
Why did He say "what injustice did your fathers find in Me"?
Malbim: One abandons something due to a flaw in what he abandons, or because he found something better. What did your fathers find in Me to distance from Me?
Why does it say "ha'Hevel va'Yehbalu"?
Ba'al ha'Turim: This alludes to Ba'al Pe'or. It has the Gematriya of Ba'al 1 , and as Tzo'eh (excrement).
Malbim: There is no benefit from idolatry. Why did they abandon Me for idolatry?!
Why didn't he say that it has the Gematriya of Ba'al, which the 10 tribes served greatly? Perhaps he infers from verse 7 ("I brought you to Eretz Karmel") that this was before Bnei Yisrael entered Eretz Yisrael. (PF)
