What do we learn from "va'Akim mi'Bneichem li'Nvi'im"?
Radak: I did another great good for you that I did not do for any other nation, so you will be separated from the nations and cling to Me, for I put Ru'ach of Nevu'ah among you. So Moshe said "v'Niflinu Ani v'Amecha mi'Kol ha'Am Asher Al Pnei ha'Adamah" (Shemos 33:16). Bneichem teaches that even youths will be Nevi'im, like Shmuel and Yirmeyah, and all the more so Zekenim, who have Chachmah.
Malbim: The second preparation so that Yisrael will not be drawn after idolatry was to establish Nevi'im from your sons. A Navi clings to Ru'ach Hashem without an intermediary. Since Yisrael saw Nevu'ah among them, they knew that Hashem supervises over them without an intermediary. They had no need to seek to know future matters via Mesim and idols ? "Lo Yimatzei Vecha Ma'avir Bno u'Vito ba'Esh Kosem Kesamim; ? Ki ha'Goyim ha'Eleh Asher Atah Yoresh Osam El Me'onenim v'El Kosemim Yishma'u v'Atah Lo Ken Nasan Lecha Hashem Elokecha; Navi mi'Kirbecha me'Achecha?" (Devarim 18:10, 14-15).
What is the significance of "[umi'Bachureichem] li'Nezirim"?
Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: They are teachers who separated from the ways of commoners and engage in Torah. Nezirah is always an expression of separation.
Radak: Even bachelors, who normally follow desire for meat and wine, I will give to them a Ru'ach of Taharah]. They will become Nezirim and abstain from wine and be Kadosh to Me, for wine brings one to pursue bodily desires. Via all this, I separated you from all nations so you will be Kedoshim, and not receive Tum'ah of Amei ha'Aretz.
Malbim: This was to separate them from Arayos. The purpose of Nezirus is to separate from Arayos. The Torah put Parashas Nazir after Sotah, to teach that anyone who sees a Sotah in her disgrace should become a Nazir (Nazir 2a).
What is the meaning of "ha'Af Ein Zos"?
Rashi: This is said in astonishment. Can you contradict this?!
Malbim: Not only did you not guard My Mitzvos, and you sinned with idolatry and Arayos. Also the preparations to guard you from sin will cease ? there will not be Nevi'im or Nezirim among you, that via them would spread among the nation Emunah in Hashem and separation from Arayos.
