What is the meaning of "Nasheku Var"?

1.

Rashi: Make yourselves zealous with a clear heart.

2.

Rashi citing Menachem: Nasheku is an expression of desire - "v'El Ishech Teshukasech" (Bereishis 3:16).

3.

Radak #1: Nasheku is (kissing), like "va'Ynashek l'Chol Echav" (Bereishis 45:15). Var is like Ben - "Mah Bari u'Mah Bar Bitni" (Mishlei 31:2). Kiss this son, that Hashem called him His son - "Bni Atah" (verse 7). The custom is for the slave to kiss his master.

4.

Radak #2: "Var" is like "l'Varei Levav" (73:1). I (David) have a clear heart and no sin. Why do you come to fight me?! You should kiss me, and admit that I am king via Hashem's command!

5.

Radak #3: Var is [an expression of choosing, like] "Bru Lachem Ish" (Shmuel I, 17:8). This is like "Sha'ul Bechir Hashem" (Shmuel II, 21:6. You should kiss the one who Hashem chose!)

6.

Malbim #1: Connect to what is chosen from Hashem. Through serving Melech ha'Mashi'ach, Hashem will consider that you serve Him.

7.

Malbim #2: Be like chaff that 'kisses' and surrounds grain, and not like chaff [without grain] that the wind disperses. It says "Var", for this can refer to the chosen one (refer to 2:12:1:6), or grain.

8.

Lev Eliyahu (Shemos p.65): His Neshek weapon] against the Yetzer ha'Ra is Bar - a clean heart.

2)

What is the meaning of "Ye'enaf"?

1.

Rashi: He will be angry. Malbim - this explains why verse 6 said to fear! "Anaf" implies that His anger punishes with total eradication.

3)

Why does it say "v'Sovedu Derech"?

1.

Rashi: This is like "v'Derech Resha'im Toved" (1:6). Radak - the path will perish, and they will perish due to their path. We say that the path perishes, due to them. This is like "Noveles Aleha" (Yeshayah 1:30) - the leaves wither, and the tree is called Noveles due to them. The same applies to "Keru'ei Vegadim" (Shmuel II, 13:31); the people are called Keru'im due to their torn garments. The same applies to "Megulechei Zaken u'Keru'ei Vegadim" (Yirmeyah 41:5) and similar verses.

4)

What is the meaning of "Ki Yiv'ar Kim'at Apo"?

1.

Rashi: In a short moment His anger will flare against you.

2.

Radak: If you will persist in your evil a short time and not repent quickly, His anger will flare at you.

3.

Malbim: In a short time that He will be angry at you, Tovedu Derech - "v'Derech Resha'im Toved" (1:6).

5)

Why does it say "Ashrei Kol Chosei Vo"?

1.

Rashi: At that time, the happiness of those who hope in him will be recognized.

2.

Radak: They will be like I am today; I trusted in Him and I was saved, and you will perish. If you will trust in Him, they will say that also you are happy.

3.

Malbim: Just like it said "v'Gilu bi'R'adah" (later you will rejoice that you serve Hashem with fear and trembling), so will rejoice those you trusted in Him.
