Why did Daniel say only that he will give the interpretation? The king was adamant to hear also the dream!

Malbim: Daniel made it sound as if he knows the dream, just he wants time for the interpretation 1 .

Malbim explained that the king thought that Chachamim merely seek extra time (refer to 2:8:2:2). Why did he not demand that Daniel tell him the dream immediately? Perhaps now that there was hope to hear the dream and interpretation, he was calmer, and realized that he erred to decree death on Chachamim who do not deal with dreams. (PF)
