Why does it say "Yalad" (masculine)?
1.
Radak: It refers to Kalev. He fathered Shever and Tirchanah from Ma'achah.
2.
Malbim citing Meforshim: It means Yaldah 1 .
3.
Malbim: Shever and his wife Tirchanah begat Ma'achah, Kalev's Pilegesh. Shever and Tirchanah were famous; their daughter became a Pilegesh to Kalev due to his esteem. It says v'Es Tirchanah, for she had great lineage; this contributed to Ma'achah's esteem. Alternatively, her name was v'Es Tirchanah - refer to 2:18:2:4.

Malbim: If so, there was no need to write "va'Teled" in the coming verse!
