What are "Mishpechos Kiryas Ye'arim"?

1.

'Rashi': People who dwell in Kiryas Ye'arim.

2.

Radak, Malbim: All Anshei Kiryas Ye'arim descended from Shoval. They were divided into these families. These were the head families; each family's lineage was traced to its Beis Av, e.g. "l'Yimnah Mishpachas ha'Yimni."

2)

Who are "ha'Tzar'asi"?

1.

'Rashi': Residents of Tzar'ah.

2.

Radak: Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol are two places in Yehudah. Men left from Mishpechos Kiryas Ye'arim, built these places and dwelled there.

3)

Here we discuss families of Yehudah. Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol (mentioned regarding Shimshon - Shofetim 13:25) are in Dan!

1.

'Rashi': The towns and border between Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol were of Dan, but these cities themselves were of Yehudah 1 .

2.

Radak: The places belonged to Yehudah, but people from Dan camped there until they received their inheritance 2 . "Va'Ya'alu va'Yachanu b'Kiryas Ye'arim bi'Yhudah Al Ken Kar'u la'Makom ha'Hu Machane Dan Ad ha'Yom ha'Zeh."

3.

Malbim: There were Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol in Yehudah, and other cities with these names in Dan 3 .

1

Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol are listed in Yehudah's inheritance, and on the border of Dan's inheritance (Yehoshua 15:33, 19:41). Shimon's father was "mi'Tzar'ah mi'Mishpachas ha'Dani"! Perhaps he was from a suburb of Tzar'ah. (PF)

2

I.e. on their way to conquer additional land in the north to add to their inheritance (Malbim 54).

3

Tzar'ah and Eshta'ol are mentioned together (surely, they were near each other) both in Yehudah and Binyamin. Was this Hashgachah? (PF)
