Why did Shlomo mention first burning Ketores?
'Rashi': This is [most] honorable. He also concluded "Ki Im Lehaktir Lefanav" (verse 5).
Why did he say "l'Olam Zos Al Yisrael"?
'Rashi': I ask you to send [to help me to build] a strong building, for the world needs Yisrael to offer Korbanos in this house that I will build 1 .
Radak, Malbim: This Mitzvah of Korbanos is always on Yisrael. Therefore I must build the Bayis to be good and strong.
Radak citing Menachos 110a: This refers to Chachamim who engage in Hilchos Avodah. The verse attributes to them as if the Beis ha'Mikdash was built in their days.
Tanchuma (Bamidbar 3): Had the nations known how much the Beis ha'Mikdash helps them, they would have placed guards around it. ( perhaps this is because after it was destroyed, there was no Mishkan. This does not prove that Binyan Beis ha'Mikdash was such a benefit for the nations, for already there was a Mishkan. - PF)
