Why does it say "El Shemu'ah"?

Radak: This is like Al Shemu'ah. There are many verses like this. It says Shemu'ah, for they were in Bavel, and the report will come from Yerushalayim.

What do we learn from "Ki Ba'ah"?

Malbim: News of Churban Beis ha'Mikdash came suddenly. They always trusted that it will not be destroyed; via this, they hoped that the exiles will return to Eretz Yisrael. When the news came, every heart melted and all hands softened. They despaired from doing anything to return to their land after Beis Hashem was destroyed.

What is the meaning of "v'Chihasah Kol Ru'ach"?

Radak: Every Ru'ach will be short. The same applies to "Ru'ach Kehah" (Yeshayah 61:3). Kehah is an expression of shortening, withholding and cutting off.

Malbim: This refers to powers of the Nefesh that were in the nation ? Ru'ach of Chachmah and Nevu'ah. The great light from which came an influence of Kedushah and Nevu'ah, when it set, the smaller lights that sparked from it, they weakened.

What is the meaning of "Telechnah Mayim"?

Radak: They will go like water ? they will move and shake amidst great bewilderment. Malbim - this is amidst great fear for the future.

What do we learn from "Hine Ba'ah v'Nihyasah"?

1.

Radak: The evil report will come soon to you. It will be like you hear.

2.

Malbim: When the report came to Bavel, the matter already was; the Bayis was already destroyed. One cannot make further efforts to repeal the decree.
