When does he ask Hashem not to distance Himself?

1.

Radak: Now, in exile. Since You were close to me from the womb and raised me, do not distance at the time of my affliction!

2)

Why did he say that the affliction is close?

1.

Radak: If You will come close, the affliction will be distant.

2.

Malbim: The helper can be far from the Ne'ezar (one who needs help) if (a) the affliction is far, for he has time to come 1 , or (b) if there is another to help. However, the affliction is close, and "Ein Ozer" (there is no one else to help)!

Granted, there are ways to explain 'Hashem is far', e.g. when there is Hester Panim. However, according to any explanation, Hashem can come close in a moment! This requires investigation. (PF)
