Why did Pharaoh Necho make Yehoyakim king?

1.

Radak (33): It was so Yehoyakim would be his servant, and know that he rules due to Pharaoh Necho.

2.

Malbim: Refer to 23:33:4:2.

2)

Why does it say that he ruled in place of Yoshiyah? Yeho'achaz ruled in between!

1.

Kli Yakar: It is considered as if Yeho'achaz was never king 1 .

1

Perhaps he means that Pharaoh Necho felt so, because it was without his permission, and Yeho'achaz was younger and not proper to be king. (PF)

3)

Why did he change his name?

1.

Radak: It was so Yehoyakim would know that he rules with Pharaoh Necho's permission, and his kingship [and even his name 1 ] is from him.

It seems that this is Radak's intent, but there is a printing mistake. (PF)
