Malbim: Also Chosah guarded in the west [along with Bnei Oved Edom, who guarded in Sha'ar Shaleches].

Where is the path that ascends from Shmar Le'umas Shmar?

Malbim: It is in the west (18). In the east and west there were six [on one side] opposite six (on the other side). In the north and south there were four opposite four. Also the Asufim were opposite each other.
