What are the implications of the word "Ya'aroch oso ... me'Erev ad Boker"
What are the implications of "me'Erev ad Boker"?
What is the point of using more oil than necessary during most of the year?
What is "me'eis B'nei Yisrael" referring to?
Ramban: Moshe was to inform the people of the importance of the oil for the Menorah, so that whoever possessed some would donate it. 1
Ramban: As in Terumah, 25:2. Refer also to 27:20:3:1*.
Why does the Torah insert the (oherwise superfluous) words "asher Al ha'Eidus"?
Moshav Zekenim: [When, in the days of Shimon ha'Tzadik, Yisrael merited] an ongoing daily miracle when the Ner Ma'aravi continued burning throughout the entire day, even though it conained the same amount of oil as the other lamps (which only burned until the morning). This was testimony [that the Shechinah rested in Yisrael].
Oznayim la'Torah: It teaches us that, besides creating light for the Kohanim, the Ner ha'Ma'aravi, which burned permanently, burned in honor of the "Eidus" (the Torah and the Luchos) on the other side of the Paroches.
QUESTIONS ON RASHI
Rashi writes that if oil was left over in the morning, it didn't matter. Why should they throw out oil from the Menorah?
Da'as Zekenim, Hadar Zekenim and Rosh (all citing the Riva): They used thinner wicks (which use less oil and make a smaller flame) in the winter and thicker ones in the summer, so that the oil would always finish by the morning. 1
Sifsei Chachamim: Refer to 27:21:1:1**.
They cite Menachos. I did not find this in Menachos, rather, Yerushalmi Yoma 2:2 alludes to this (PF). Perhaps they are referring o Rashi in Menachos, who cites his explanation in he name of 'Ika Ma'an de'Amar'.
