Malbim: When a hungry person is heated from pangs of hunger, the stomach loses its desire for eating. He feels only weariness and weakness, but not hunger. The fever feeds the body, as is known. However, when a thirsty person is heated due to a dream, his weariness and thirst both increase. The nations that joined with Sancheriv's camp in order to plunder, they will remain alive, like a hungry person in a dream. They return to their houses empty, like they came. Sancheriv himself and Machaneh Ashur, not only did they not plunder like they desired - they and their kingship perished. This is like a thirsty person in a dream. The thirst and 'fire' burn in him more because the dream made his imagination stray.
What is "Shokekah"?
