Malbim: A father who does not afflict his son, in the end he will hate his father, and his father will not have rest from him. Evil conduct in one's house is harsh. All the more so, the son will not finance him in his old age! If he will afflict him, not only will he have rest - [the father] gives delicacies to his Nefesh.
