What is the significance of "Am Oni va'Dal"?

Sanhedrin 98a: [Mashi'ach] ben David will not come until haughty people cease from Yisrael.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: They are humble, and accept insult. Radak - "Oni" is like Anav (humble). "Dal" - his Nefesh is lowly, the opposite of "Alizei Ga'avasech" (11). Also "Oni v'Rochev Al Chamor" (Zecharyah 9:9) is like Anav.

Malbim: They were humble in their Nefesh and Midos. Dalim - they do not have great wealth.
