Above (2), it mentioned also Adargazraya Gedavraya Desavraya and Tiftayei. Why are they omitted here?
Rashi: The fire burned them (Sanhedrin 92b).
Malbim: They were priests of idolatry. They were ashamed when they saw that their service is futile. Many worshipped fire in those days. This is the intent of 'four kings were burned via the fire' (Sanhedrin 92b).
Who are "veha'Davrei Malka"?
Ibn Ezra: The king's advisors.
What is the meaning of "Lo Shelet Nura v'Geshmehon"?
Rashi: The fire did not rule over (burn) their bodies. Geshmehon is 'their bodies' in Arame'ic.
Were only their Sarbelim (outermost garments) not changed via the fire?
Ibn Ezra: No. It mentioned the outermost garments, and there was no need to mention the others.
What is the meaning of "Lo Adas Behon"?
Rashi: [The smell of the fire] did not enter them.
Why did the verse need to mention all of these matters?
Malbim: People said that they anointed with Salamandra, and this shielded them from the fire. However, the hair was not singed! Perhaps hair nurtures from the body, so anointing the body shielded the hairs. Therefore, it says that the fire did not change their garments. People say that there are garments spun from stone 1 that do not burn. Therefore it says there was no smell of the fire in them. This cannot be via nature!
Chachmei Athens said, we have a broken millstone. Sew it for us! R. Yehoshua replied, bring to me threads [of stone] from it, and I will do so (Bechoros 8b). This implies that one cannot make threads from stone! (PF)
