1)

How did Hashem's response answer Moshe's request to cross the Yarden?

1.

Rashi: If Moshe's Tefilah to enter Eretz Yisrael and to see the land could not be answered in full, part of it was answered, and he was granted permission to see the entire land. 1

1

Sifsei Chachamim: And not just Yerushalayim and the Beis-Hamikdash, which is what he asked to see. See also Oznayim la'Torah.

2)

Why did Hashem add the (otherwise superfluous) word "u'Re'ei be'Einecha"?

1.

Or ha'Chayim #1: Hashem was telling Moshe that he would - miraculously - see with his eyes everything that he had asked to see with his whole body.

2.

Or ha'Chayiam #2: Hashem was telling Moshe that he would see the entire land with his eyes and would require a telescope.

3)

Seeing as Moshe was standing east of the Yarden, why did he need to look eastwards?

1.

Oznayim la'Torah: To include the lands of the Keini, K'nizi and Kadmoni, which will be given to Yisrael in the time of Mashi'ach. 1

1

See Oznayim la'Torah DH 've'Sa Einecha u'Re'ei'.

4)

If Moshe's good deeds did not enable him even to see Eretz Yisrael, how did Tefilah succeed in doing so?

1.

B'rachos, 32b: We see from here that Tefilah is greater than good deeds. 1

1

See Torah Temimah, note 10.

5)

Since Hashem did not want to bring Moshe to the land, why did He show it to him, seeing as it would only cause him pain?
