1)

What are the ramificatons of "Ki Lo Sishtachaveh le'Eil Acher"?

1.

1

See Torah Temimah, note 18.

2)

What are the connotations of "Kana Sh'mo ... "?

1.

Rashi and Targum Yonasan: It means that, when it comes to Avodah-Zarah, Hashem is zealous; He does not pardon the sinner, but punishes him.

2.

Seforno: It means that Hashems's Name (Havayah) by definition, indicates a form of existence that cannot be applied to any other creation. Consequently, He is zealous to punish anyone who worships any other being.

3)

Why is the Reish in "Acher" large?

1.

Moshav Zekenim: Because it alludes to idolatry. 1

2.

Ba'al ha'Turim (in Va'eschanan Devarim 6:4, citing Shir ha'Shirim Rabah 5:11): This is to avoid mistakenly reading it as 'Echad'. 2

1

Moshav Zekenim: like we find in Sh'muel 2 15:32 "ve'David Ba Ad ha'Rosh", and in Daniel 2:38 "Ant Hu Reishah di Dahava"

2

Ba'al ha'Turim: And for the same reason the 'Daled' in "Hashem Echad" (in the Sh'ma) is large, in case one reads it as 'Acher' (Chas ve'Shalom). Refer also to 32:7:3:2.
