Why does the Torah mention Moshe's name three times in this Pasuk?
R. Bachye #1: Corresponding to the three times that he ascended Har Sinai, each of which he attained a deeper level of understanding and additional light. 1
R. Bachye #2 (according to Kabalah, citing a Midrash): They hint at the numerous ways in which Hashem raised Moshe on a par with Himself, 2 beginning with the Kavod that He bestowed upon him by obeying his commands ?Kumah Hashem Kumah Hashem?, ?Shuvah Hashem Shuvah Hashem?.
Oznayim la'Torah: They correspond to his three greatest acchievements on behalf of Yisrael - "Vera'u es P'nei Moshe" - who redeemed them from Egypt; "Ki Karan Or P'nei Moshe" - who received the Torah and "Veheishiv Moshe" - who saved Yisrael from extinction after the sin of the Eigel and returned their hearts to their Father in Heaven.
Why does the Torah mention ?P?nei/Panav? - three times in the current Pasuk?
R. Bachye #1: They hint at the three groups of three Midos ? Kavod Elyon, Kavod Emtza?i and Kavod Acharon. 1
R. Bachye: With reference to answer #1 ? they correspond to the three times that Hashem mentioned ?Panim? regarding Himself ? 1. ?Lo Suchal Lir?os Panai? ? in Bamidbar 11:25 (Kavod Elyon); 2. ?u?Fanai Lo Yersa?u? ? in Sh?mos 33:23 (Kavod Emtza?i) and 3. ?Panai Yeleichu? ? in Sh?mos 33:14 (Kavod Acharon). 2
Why does the Torah mentions the mask three ties ? once in Pasuk 33 ?Vayiten al Panav Masveh?, once in Pasuk 34 ?Yasir es ha?Masveh? and once in Pasuk 35 ??Vehishiv Moshe es ha?Masveh ... ??
R. Bachye: Corresponding to the three times?Panim? ? Refer to 34:35:2:2 ? twice negatively (Where the Faces of both Hashem and Moshe could not be seen), and once positively, (where they could). 1
See R. Chavel?s footnotes.
?Ad Bo?o Ledber Ito?. Why does the Torah write ?Ledaber Ito and not Ledaber es Hashem??
R. Bachye: To leave open the possibility of interpreting it to mean ?until Hashem came to speak to Moshe. To teach us that Moshe spoke to Hashem without fear like one manspeaks to another. Indeed, this is one of the advantages of Moshe over all other prophets ?Panim el Panim? listed in Vezos Haberachah 34:10 ? ... asher Yeda?o Hashem Panim el Panim?. 1
R. Bachye: A level which those who fear Hashem and those who give thought to His Name will merit in time to come, as the Navi wrote in Mal?achi 3:16 ?Melech be?Yafyo Techezenh Einecha, Tir?enah Eretz Meishrum?.
