What is the meaning of "Hafach Laylah v'Yidaka'u"?

Rashi: He makes a time of darkness and affliction for them, and they are crushed.

Ibn Ezra: Hashem reverses their light to darkness.
3.
Malbim: Hashem does not show open Hashgachah like this. Only, He crushes them at night - it is not during the day when people can see openly.
