Tanchuma (Mishpatim 4, cited roughly in Rashi): He heard Aniyim coming to the opening of his storehouse, and screaming. They were the Aniyim that he exiled. He became stingy, and said 'if not from my storehouses 1 , from where can I build this entire Medinah?!' He ceased feeding them.

Malbim: Since my strength enabled me to build this capitol, and my Mazal succeeds, I cannot fall under causes. This is due to my strength, honor and importance. Had such a decree been made, it would have affected my kingship! Rather, I overcame Elokim and people!
